Our spending per person is nearly twice the average of developed nations yet we rank near the bottom in key measures of quality such as access, life expectancy, and infant mortality. Further, significant disparities in outcomes persist based on income, ethnicity, and geography. Compounding this challenge is the escalating cost of caring for our rapidly aging population as more people require help managing multiple chronic conditions.

In response, our healthcare system is rapidly shifting from an outdated fee-for-service payment model to a value-based model that rewards healthcare providers for delivering high quality at lower cost.

By developing community-serving facilities directly where they are needed the most, the Fund aims to measurably improve health outcomes and reduce disparities within underserved communities.

Since launching in December 2017, the Turner Healthcare Facilities Fund has built or committed to 44 investments that will serve over 159,000 patients. These facilities provide care for patients across the age spectrum in under resourced communities and consistently outperform the national patient satisfaction benchmark. This improved access to community-facing, high-quality healthcare services contributes to better overall healthcare outcomes including lower hospitalization rates and reduced Emergency Room visits. When fully invested, the Fund will have delivered approximately $750 million in facilities, empowering healthcare providers to achieve dramatically improved health outcomes.
